ministries

Welcome to St. Vincent’s Youth Ministry, the on-going faith formation through which our youth (teens) live out their baptismal call within the life of their parish community. Our model of Youth Ministry at St. Vincent’s is based on the document prepared by the U.S. Bishops titled Renewing the Vision. According to this document there are three main goals:

  1. To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
  2. To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the catholic faith community,
  3. To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each person.
Ministry with youth (teens) utilizes each of the Church’s ministries — advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, prayer and worship — in an integrated approach to achieve the above three goals. The Initiation Model of Youth Ministry that we use at St. Vincent’s gives our teens the opportunity to experience all eight components in a meaningful way within the parish community.

This involves the participation in the Rites of Entrance, Prayer, Creed, Covenant, and Confirmation, Alpha Retreat (9th grade), Antioch Retreat (grade 10), Mystagogia Retreat (grades 11 and 12), service opportunities, and lectionary based youth gatherings that follow each of the retreats.

A calendar is printed each fall with the schedule. Getting involved is the key to growing in one’s faith. Adults are needed to share their faith with our teens. If interested, please contact Anne Marie Gisoldi (Youthministry@svmnj.org) at the youth office.
