Envision

Discernment Day

Saturday February 27, 2010

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Our parish community is now in the third phase of ENVISION: the Discernment Phase. During the Listening Phase (Phase 2), all parishioners were invited to participate in the parish Listening Day; an important first step for our parish community. Listening Day was the first parish-wide meeting of the ENVISION planning process. Members of St. Vincent Martyr parish community shared information, reflections, and concerns with each other and we were able to situate our parish’s history in the history of our nation and the world.  Our Listening Day resulted in the participants fashioning five areas of parish life based upon the results of the Parish Questionnaire, the Fall Focus Groups and Listening Day discussion. These areas will become the foundation for our strategic planning for our parish future.

They are: 1. Communications; 2. Stewardship; 3. Parish Unity;

4. Faith Formation and Spiritual Opportunities;

5. A Catholic Presence in Madison.

On Discernment Day, we, as the St. Vincent Martyr community, must decide—discern—how to focus our energies and shape the path we will take in the future using these five areas as our foundation. At Discernment Day, Saturday, February 27th, from  9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. we will actually begin to develop a vision for our parish future.

From the beginning, our planning process has been collaborative and inclusive. At every stage, we encouraged parishioners to participate in whatever way they could. Whether you have participated in any previous ENVISION activities or not, we invite you to participate in Discernment Day—to help build our preferred future, the future we all want to see happen.

Registration forms will be available soon in the bulletin or on the website, www.stvincentmartyr.org.
